Vocal Spotlight Invited to Perform at the Vatican in Rome
Continuo Arts Foundation and Mark Hayes announced that Donnalynn Laver and Vocal Spotlight have been invited to participate in the 2014 Internationale Festival Di Musica E. Arte Sacra at the Vatican in Rome next November 3 - 10, Members of Vocal Spotlight will join with other outstanding choristers to form a larger choir of distinction to present Mark Hayes' Requiem.
Mark Hayes wrote to Artistic and Musical Director Donnalynn Laver "I need an exceptional choir to premiere this work in Italy and that's why I'm contacting you. I was so pleased that you were a part of the World Premiere of my Requiem at Avery Fisher Hall (Lincoln Center, NYC) in May. I want the choir in Rome to crème de la crème."
Candace Wicke, President and Executive Director of Continuo Arts Foundation, states "We requested that Mark recommend to us only the conductors and ensembles of the highest caliber and professionalism; your performance will be on a program that is indeed world class. Congratulations on the musical and artistic achievements that have led Mark's unreserved recommendations on this invitation.
Vocal Spotlight singers will spend several hours each day rehearsing over the course of six days culminating in the Requiem performance with full orchestra on the final day of their time in Rome. Performers will have the opportunity to explore and experience the culture and history at the Vatican, Ancient Rome, and surrounding areas during their time in Italy. Members of the community are encouraged to give financial support in sending these singers to Rome by contacting Christian Laver at 614-451-9628 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
